Not a medical app
Breathroom is intended for relaxation and general wellbeing. The app is not a medical device, does not provide diagnoses and does not replace medical, psychological or psychotherapeutic advice or treatment.
Breathing exercises
Never practise while driving, operating machinery, or in or near water. Stop an exercise and return to normal breathing if you feel dizzy, notice tingling, become short of breath or have chest pain. If you are pregnant or have heart, circulation or respiratory conditions, high blood pressure, epilepsy or a panic disorder, talk to a professional before doing breath-holding exercises. If you create your own breathing pattern, only hold your breath for as long as it stays comfortable.
Yoga and stretching
Listen to your body and only go as far as feels good. Stretching may pull, but it should not hurt. Check with a professional first if you are injured, have recently had surgery or are pregnant. Make sure you have enough space and a non-slip surface.
Meditation and thoughts
Strong feelings can come up while meditating or reflecting on stressful thoughts. You can stop at any time. “Quick check” and “Untangle a thought” are tools for self-reflection, not therapy.
If you are not doing well
If something weighs on you heavily, talk to a professional or someone you trust. In an emergency, call your local emergency number. In Switzerland, Die Dargebotene Hand is available around the clock on 143. You can find free, confidential helplines in other countries at findahelpline.com.
Sounds
Listen to sounds at a comfortable volume. Binaural tones only work with headphones.
