In short

Breathroom does not collect any personal data. There is no account, no advertising, no tracking, no analytics tools and no servers. The app does not connect to the internet. Everything you do or enter in Breathroom stays on your iPhone. As the developer, I have no access to it.

Data on your device

To work, the app stores on your iPhone: your history (which exercise, when and for how long), notes you add to entries, your answers in “Quick check” and “Untangle a thought”, your routines and your settings. This data is kept in a protected folder of the app and encrypted by iOS until the device is first unlocked after a restart. It is never transmitted.

iPhone backups

If you allow it in Breathroom’s settings (the default), this data is part of your iCloud or computer backup. Apple’s terms apply. You can turn this off at any time under Settings › Data.

Notifications

If you choose “Remind me” for a routine, Breathroom schedules a local notification on your iPhone. iOS asks for your permission first. The notification is not sent through any server.

Calendar

Only if you choose “Add to my calendar” for a routine does Breathroom ask for access to your calendar. Breathroom then creates its own calendar called “Breathroom” and writes the name, time and duration of your routines into it. Breathroom only reads its own events in that calendar in order to update or delete them. Other calendars and events are not analysed. Depending on your settings, Apple syncs your calendars via iCloud.

Apple Health

Only if you turn on “Save mindful minutes” under Settings › Apple Health and iOS has asked for your permission does Breathroom save the start and end of a meditation or breathing exercise as mindful minutes in Apple Health. Breathroom does not read any data from Health, does not share health data and does not use it for advertising. The entries are part of your Health data: they stay there even if you delete Breathroom, and you can delete them or revoke the permission in the Health app at any time.

Widget, Lock Screen and Siri

For the widget, Breathroom stores your current streak and today’s practice minutes in a shared storage area on your iPhone that only Breathroom and its widget can read. During a session, a Live Activity shows the name of the session and the remaining time on the Lock Screen. Anyone who looks at your Lock Screen can see it. You can turn this off under Settings › Lock Screen. If you start a session with Siri, Apple processes your voice request under Apple’s privacy policy. Breathroom only learns which session to start.

Screen Time

The Screen Time feature uses Apple’s Screen Time interface (Family Controls and Device Activity). The analysis is done by iOS itself in a protected area. Breathroom can neither read nor store these numbers, and they never leave your device. You decide whether to allow access, and you can revoke it at any time in the iPhone Settings.

Voice and sounds

The guidance is spoken by a voice on your iPhone, directly on the device. If you allow it, this can also be your own Personal Voice, which is likewise only used on the device. Your voice settings are stored in the app. All sounds are generated on the device. No text or recordings are sent to third parties.

Apple

Breathroom is distributed through Apple’s App Store. Apple’s privacy policy applies to the download. If you have agreed in the iPhone Settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple provides me with aggregated statistics and crash reports that do not identify you personally. Breathroom itself does not collect any such data.

Deletion

You can remove all data in Breathroom under Settings › Delete all data. This also deletes Breathroom’s calendar events, reminders and widget data. You delete entries in Apple Health in the Health app. If you delete the app, iOS removes its data as well.

Your rights

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and, where applicable, the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct and delete your data. Since I do not hold any data about you, there is nothing I can hand over. If you have questions, write to app@livioelio.ch.

Changes

If anything about Breathroom changes in a way that affects privacy, I will update this policy. The current version is always available in the app.
